CAT 2020 Exam Analysis (Section-Wise)

Below we are sharing the slot wise exam review of the CAT 2020:

  • CAT VARC Exam Review – Slot 1

This section was comparatively difficult than the other two sections. Let’s find more details about today’s questions from the VARC section:

There were 4 sets of Reading Comprehension having a total of 18 questions out of 26.

3 Sets of Verbal Ability having a total of 8 questions out of 26.

Out of 26 questions, 5 TITA questions were asked.

You require 40 -42 marks to get a 99%le in VARC section.

  • CAT QA Exam Review 2020 – Slot 1

This section was the easiest of all the sections. A total of 26 questions were asked in this section.

Most of the questions asked in this section were from Arithmetic and Algebra Out of 26, 8 TITA questions were asked, Around 2-3 questions were asked from Number system.

NO QUESTIONS from Permutation & Combination (Modern Mathematics) were seen in this section.

The number of questions asked from Geometry were very less.

A score of 45-47 should give you a 99%le.

  • CAT DILR Paper Analysis 2020

CAT DILR Exam Review 2020 – Slot 1

This section was of moderate-difficulty. A total of 24 questions were asked from this section.

Most of the questions in this section were from Data Interpretation.

Very few questions from Logical Reasoning were seen in this section.

There were 5 sets. 3 Sets of 4 questions each and 2 sets of 6 questions each were seen.

(Afternoon - 12:30PM To 2:30PM)

CAT Good Attempts/Score - Slot 2

VARC section was very similar to the CAT 2020 Slot 1 VARC section. The pattern was exactly the same with 2 passages having 5 questions and 2 passages having 4 questions each. The VA consisted of 5 non-MCQs (3 Parajumbles and 2 Odd Sentence Parajumbles) and 3 MCQs (Parasummary Questions). The non-MCQs were slightly difficult while the Parasummary Questions were easy-moderate. The VARC section was similar to the slot 1 of the CAT 2020 Exam in terms of difficulty. In order to score a 99%ile in the section, one would have to obtain somewhere between 43-45 marks.

DILR Section of CAT 2020 Slot 2, the same pattern as the first slot followed with 2 sets having 6 questions and 3 sets having 4 questions. There were 6 non-MCQs in the DILR section with the overall difficulty being moderate-difficult. Â A 99%ile in this DILR section of the CAT 2020 Slot 2 Paper is likely to be achieved at 29-31 marks.

 

QA section of the CAT 2020 Slot 2, Arithmetic and Algebra continued to the most tested topics with 17 of the 26 questions coming from these topics. There were 6 non-MCQs in the section with the difficulty level between that of (easier than) the CAT 2018 and (tougher than) CAT 2019 paper. For the QA section, a 99%ile is likely to be achieved at a score of 41-43

CAT 2020 Slot 3 was similar  to the other slots of CAT 2020 in terms of the exam pattern.

 

In order to score a 99%ile in the VARC section, you would need to score between 41-44 marks while the same in DILR would be 24-27 marks and in QA would be 43-46. Overall, in order to score a 99%ile, you would need to score between 100 and 102 marks.
